I have a special attraction to the "Terrible Mother" topic - this particular series is one of my personal favorites... The totem pole was inspired by the "parable tree" what I saw in the WeltMuseum Wien (Museum of Ethnology, Vienna) Parable trees are from Ghana, and are given to young women by their mothers on their wedding - they illustrate the life cycle of a woman from birth to old age - of course the object I made has different symbolic meaning.
